Hey, I’m Jamie and I’m a recovering perfectionist…
Hi, I’m Jamie.
If you’re here, you’ve probably tried every rule, plan, and New Year’s resolution designed to make you feel like you’ve got it all together. I’ve been there, too. As someone who spent years trying to shrink myself, follow all the “right” steps, and quiet my own voice to avoid judgment, I know how painful it is to chase a version of happiness that doesn’t seem to exist.
What I eventually learned is that who I am and the body I’m in were never the problem; it was the constant self-criticism and the impossible standards we are all held to by society.
You deserve more care, kindness, and room to exist than you’ve ever been taught to allow, and the truth is that chasing a version of happiness that never arrives is the root cause of a lot of pain.
Together, we will focus on what actually supports you… not rulebooks, restrictions, or anyone else’s idea of who you should be.
My Philosophy: “Harm Reduction”
My approach to therapy falls under the umbrella term of “harm reduction.” Here’s what that actually means in the therapy room: No ultimatums. No agendas. No expectation of perfection. Just you and me crafting a plan that makes sense for the actual life you live, not an overly idealistic version of life that doesn’t exist. We start with where you are today, talk through where you’re hoping to get to, and find somewhere in between…somewhere just outside your comfort zone but not so far that it causes overwhelm and shutdown, and we aim for that.
Some days, you may find yourself leaning on old behaviors that you know don’t serve you. That is part of the process, especially when you haven’t yet developed new skills that feel like they work as well as what you’ve been doing. So instead of shaming you for doing what you know and pulling the rug out from under you, we can work together on what makes the most sense, what feels doable, and go from there.
Perfection is a myth — and I’m here to help you challenge it.
